A Spider-Man Birthday

One of my favorites of all the cakes I've made, Mike's Spider-Man strawberry-topped birthday cheesecake yesterday turned out exactly the way I'd imagined it.
The eyes were melted white chocolate chips outlined with food coloring gel.  The little cake topper was a silly find for Mike from my mom years ago.
A trip to Target had replenished my stash of Spider-Man gift wrap, and Stuffed even roused himself from his nap on the floor in time for pictures.
'A loving start to "37" for Mr. Mike, leftover cheesecake for dessert tonight, and a sweet way to wrap up this July.

Crazy right? I'm not getting any younger and I've always wanted to do it so I'm going for it! Glad to see your post today!

That is so creative! I have never seen a spider man cake made with strawberries in that way. From what I see of your kitchen in the background it looks like a wonderful colourful and welcoming place.

I love your cake. Going to steal the spiderman strawberry idea if you don't mind. I am terrible in the kitchen. How exactly did you melt the individual chocolate pieces? Did you put them on first and then stick them in the oven? I assume that would wilt the strawberries. HELP.

Thank you, and these were incredibly easy: Melt a few white chocolate chips in the microwave and just kind of "paint" the melted white chocolate into an eye-shape with a toothpick, then outline each eye with black gel food coloring (the kind that comes in the little tubes, usually found near the birthday candles and ready-made frostings). I chilled each finished strawberry in the fridge then added them all to the cheesecake and re-chilled it all. Good luck! :)
